The Broadway musical Wicked has extended its booking period through to 1 Jul 2012. The musical opened at the Gershwin Theatre on 30 Oct 2003, following previews from 8 Oct 2003.

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

Wicked currently features *Teal Wicks(Elphaba), **Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Tom McGowan (The Wizard), Kathy Fitzgerald (Madame Morrible), Richard H. Tom McGowan, who received a Tony nomination for his performance in the original Broadway production of La Bête, will join the cast of Wicked Broadway Musical Starting May 03, 2011.

Tom McGowan joins a cast which includes Teal Wicks as Elphaba, Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda, Kathy Fitzgerald as Madame Morrible, Richard H. Blake as Fiyero, Etai BenShlomo as Boq, Jenny Fellner as Nessarose, and Tom Flynn as Dr. Dillamond.

Tom McGowan has appeared on Broadway in Chicago and Ivanov and Off-Broadway in The Food Chain (Obie Award), The Winter’s Tale and Coriolanus.

Wicked explores the early life of the witches of Oz: Glinda and Elphaba. The two main characters meet at Shiz, a school where both hope to take up sorcery. Glinda is madly popular and Elphaba is, well, green. By a misunderstanding, they wind up roommates and, after an initial period of mutual loathing, begin to learn something about each other. Their life paths continue to intersect through a shared love, entry into the Emerald City and interaction with the Wizard himself.

Teal Wicks as Elphaba and Kyle Dean Massey as Fiyero to Join Broadway’s Wicked

Teal Wicks will assume the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked, playing at the Gershwin Theatre, on Tuesday, February 1, 2011. It has also been announced that Kyle Dean Massey will reprise his performance as Fiyero in the show, beginning with the performance on Tuesday, January 25, 2010.

Ms. Wicks and Mr. Massey join a cast which includes Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda, Kathy Fitzgerald as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Jenny Fellner as Nessarose, Etai BenShlomo as Boq and Tom Flynn as Dr. Dillamond.

Teal Wicks has played the role of Elphaba in both the San Francisco and Los Angeles companies of the musical. Among her other credits are the national tour of Pippin and Stairway to Paradise at New York City Center Encores!. In addition, she is currently appearing in The Blue Flower at American Repertory Theatre.

Kyle Dean Massey is currently appearing on Broadway in Next to Normal. His other theater credits include Xanadu on Broadway, Altar Boyz Off-Broadway, and the North American and Japan tours of 42nd Street.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel of the same name, Wicked tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, and how they grew to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. The musical features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

Mandy Gonzalez will assume the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre on March 23. The role is currently being played by Dee Roscioli.

Beginning performances on Tuesday, March 23, Mandy Gonzalez, who originated the role of Nina in the Broadway musical, In the Heights, will assume the role of Elphaba in the musicAl Blockbuster Wicked. Mandy joins a cast which includes Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda, Tony Award-winner Rondi Reed as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Andy Karl as Fiyero, Alex Brightman as Boq, Jenny Fellner as Nessarose, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond. The role of Elphaba is currently being played by Dee Roscioli.

Mandy Gonzalez was last seen on and off-Broadway in the Tony Award-winning musical In The Heights, where she originated the role of Nina Rosario (Drama Desk Award/Ensemble). Other Broadway appearances include Lennon, Aida, and Dance of the Vampires. Mandy received an OBIE Award for her performance in the Off-Broadway production of Eli’s Comin’.
