Jaime Rosenstein is all set to join the record-breaking, the most popular musical Wicked.<\/strong> Rosenstein will be playing Nessarose in Wicked at PPAC<\/a>. Wicked performances at Providence Performing Arts Center<\/a> (220 Weybosset St #2, Providence, RI<\/a> 02906) starts from Today December 26 and conitnue through January 12, 2014.<\/p>\n

Jaime Rosenstein to Play Nessarose at PPAC<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n

Jaime Rosenstein is a Brown University graduate and a veteran of the joint Brown-Trinity Rep program. Actress Jaime Rosenstein auditioned for \u201cWicked\u201d on a Monday, was told she got the job on Tuesday, and was flying off to Dallas two days later to join the national tour<\/a> of the popular musical.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was kind of great,\u201d said Rosenstein, 25. \u201cIt stopped me from over thinking.\u201d<\/p>\n

After she got her undergraduate degree at Brown, Rosenstein figured she needed more training and took up acting in Brown\u2019s MFA program, which the school runs in conjunction with Trinity Rep.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou want to be an actor who sings,\u201d said Rosenstein, \u201cand who can bring truth to the role.\u201d<\/p>\n

She felt so-called straight acting could help that happen. For her final project at Brown, she sang selections from \u201cCabaret\u201d and teachers Brian McEleney and Stephen Berenson showed her how to bring her acting skills to the songs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was invaluable,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Rosenstein was hired for the tour back in April. She said she had done her final project by then and her teachers were nice enough to give her a degree before the semester was out so she could go on tour.<\/p>\n

Rosenstein, who\u2019s from Manhattan, plays Nessarose in the show, the wheelchair-bound sister of Elphaba, who becomes the green wicked witch. \u201cWicked\u201d offers the back story of the \u201cWizard of Oz\u201d from the point of view of the witches.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just trying to make a life on the road,\u201d she said. \u201cThere are times when it takes its toll, and times when you embrace it.\u201d<\/p>\n

But there\u2019s also the thrill of landing a major tour right out of school.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been amazing,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s been beyond exciting to be part of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wicked musical tour will be in Providence RI<\/a> until January 12, 2014. From here the tour moves to Pittsburgh, PA<\/a> from January 15 to February 09, 2014.
