While it\u2019s an uneven production, the reality is that each iteration of this musical rises or falls on the strength of its Elphaba, a.k.a. the Wicked Witch \u2014 and in Jackie Burns, this \u201cWicked\u2019\u2019 boasts an Elphaba who could go broom to broom against Idina Menzel herself. Whether she is belting out a truly stunning version of \u201cDefying Gravity\u2019\u2019 to close the first act or cracking your heart by confessing, brokenly, that \u201cI\u2019m Not That Girl,\u2019\u2019 Burns brings a richness of emotional coloration to the role of the green-skinned outcast who discovers that she has supernatural powers. The rest of the cast does not match Burns\u2019s level of radiant intensity, and there are some dead spots between the musical numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Chandra Lee Schwartz plays the other key role, Glinda as a kind of cross between Reese Witherspoon\u2019s Elle in \u201cLegally Blonde\u2019\u2019 and Teri Garr\u2019s Inga in Mel Brooks\u2019s \u201cYoung Frankenstein.\u2019\u2019 Luckily for this \u201cWicked,\u2019\u2019 Jackie Burns retains full possession of her powers of song, from start to finish.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wickedthemusicalticketsonline.com\/wicked-boston-ma-tickets.html\"><strong>Wicked is performing at Boston Opera House in Boston, MA Through Oct. 17.
