According to Variety, Wicked has become the “first Broadway production to report sales of more than $2 million for a single frame on the board,” otherwise known as Wicked has become the only Broadway show to report figures over $2 million in just one week of sales. The figure came about Thursday’s week (ending Sunday, November 29) when the total figure rounded out to be about $2,086,135, a number that updated the past Rialto score that was recorded during the 2007 sessions and was marked at $1.84 million.

The six year show has astounded audiences with its national tours, Broadway staple and international performances. The show is bound to see more money once the holiday months arrive. Other shows that have fared well even in this economic downturn are The Lion King ($1,693,074), Billy Elliot ($1574,502), Mary Poppins (($1,068,271) and “Shrek the Musical” ($1,025,635), the first two both breaking their own records.

Wicked tickets may look very expensive but they really aren’t. The reason why these tickets are so expensive when you buy it is because a large number of brokers buy these tickets and then store them. Once they see the demand rising, they start selling these tickets for a massive profit and that is why most people end up spending a lot more than they should have.

If you are wondering how you will manage to get your Wicked tickets for its actual price, then there are a couple of ways. These two methods do work for a lot of people, but it involves spending some time researching.

The first method is to use the internet to your advantage. There are numerous ways by which you can avail your Wicked Musical tickets for their original price on the internet. A lot of websites are dedicated to only selling Wicked tickets and here you are most likely to find your tickets for either the original price or at discounted prices. A good way to increase your chances of getting the ticket for the right prices is to go on these websites and compare the price.

The other way is to look for discount sites. These sites sell Wicked and other Broadway tickets on their site for discounted prices and usually have last minute offers. These deals are rare so they are difficult to find, but keep at it and you might just come across the right website.

The main reason why finding Wicked tickets at their original or at discounted price is so difficult is because the Wicked musical is extremely popular. More and more people want to see the show and demand surpasses supply, making the prices go higher and higher. However, many people who invest their time in researching on the web have been rewarded, so keep at it and you might just find your tickets at the right price. Check out the Wicked Tour Dates and Book your tickets in advance for better seats at good price.

Six Years Later And Wicked Is Still Going Strong

Who would have thought that a show that didn’t get very good reviews would not only still be running but turn out to be one of the most successful shows in Broadway history? I am of course talking about Wicked. The show which celebrated it’s sixth year on Broadway just last week continues to sell out nightly at the Gershwin Theatre on Broadway. Not only that but it continues to break box office records at theatres all around the world.

I saw the show during it’s preview period in 2003 and while I enjoyed it I never expected it to become the phenomenon that is has become. I don’t think anybody did. Every year there are rumblings about them turning the show into a movie but I think it would be wise to wait a few more years. A movie is not going to make them sell any more tickets than they already have. Regardless Wicked is here to stay. It is Broadway’s most “Popular” show after all. Donna Vivino gets ready to fly as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, in the national tour of “Wicked.”

“Wicked,” which comes to PlayhouseSquare’s State Theatre for the third time in four years, has sold more tickets in the past 11 weeks — 10 percent more — than at the same point the last time the show was here, PlayhouseSquare’s Gina Vernaci said.

Making that figure even more significant is the fact that this year’s four-week, 32-performance run is 20 percent shorter than the last one — 40 shows over five weeks — which came in February 2008, before the financial crisis hit.

“At this rate, we will be over $6 million [in ticket sales] by the first performance,” said Vernaci, the downtown Cleveland theater district’s theatrical vice president.

“Which is 83 percent of the total gross potential of the entire engagement. We are currently into selling standing-room-only tickets for some of the performances.”

Cleveland was selected as only the second market in the country (after Denver) to get a re-return visit from “Wicked,” the Stephen Schwartz musical about the friendship behind the scenes of “The Wizard of Oz” between Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.

But while Cleveland has been a very good market for “Wicked,” producer David Stone said the musical, which first opened in one of Broadway’s biggest theaters in 2003, does strong business in every market it has entered.

Wicked will be performing till December 13, 2009. Hurry up and book discount tickets for Wicked Tickets in Cleveland, Ohio.
