Kathy Fitzgerald, who has previously been seen on Broadway in 9 to 5 the Musical (Outer Critics Circle nomination), The Producers and Swinging on a Star (Drama Desk nomination), will join the cast of Broadway’s Wicked later this month.

Fitzgerald will step into the role of Madame Morrible beginning June 29. She succeeds Tony Award winner Rondi Reed, who will play her final performance June 27 at 3 PM.

Wicked is back on top of TicketNews’s Top Events rankings for the week ending May 2. With a 5.25 power score, the musical knocks Lady Gaga from the top spot. Gaga’s 2.69 power score beats out Justin Bieber’s 2.57 power score.

With a 36.22 power score, “Wicked” dominates the Top Theater Events. Jersey Boys (8.71) and Billy Elliot (6.88) follow. Lion King is number four (5.28) and Fences is number five (5.02). After breaking box office records in 2009, “Wicked,” the smash-hit musical, returning to Louisville’s Kentucky Center for the Arts, Whitney Hall on May 5-23 as a PNC Broadway Across America Special Presentation.

Tony Award-winning “Wicked,” which has broken box-office records in city after city, returns to Louisville in May as part of the PNC Broadway Across America series. The musical, based on Gregory Maguire’s best-selling novel, has played both on Broadway and in London’s West End, as well as touring cities all over the world.

“Wicked” runs from May 5 to 23 at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets range from $50 for a weekday matinee to $98 for the best seats in the Grand Tier of the First Balcony for a Saturday evening performance. Stephen Schwartz wrote the songs and lyrics while Winnie Holzman penned the book.

The show will play the Kentucky Center Wednesday, May 5, through Sunday, May 23.
