Wicked, The hit “Wizard of Oz”-inspired musical continues at Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall in Fort Myers, FL. Wicked tour opened at Barbara B. Mann Hall on March 28 and continues through Sunday April 15, 2012.
Long before Dorothy arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and popular.The two eventually become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
Wicked musical show features hummable songs such as “Defying Gravity”. The story explores female friendship as well as themes such as conformity, morality and hypocrisy. Glinda – who begins “Wicked” as a fashion snob with a high opinion of herself – gradually learns how to be a better person from her nemesis-turned-best friend, Elphaba. The musical is directed by two-time Tony winner Joe Mantello and has won 35 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony awards.
