Wicked Broadway slided to the second rank grossing $1,349,433, compared to $1,455,329 for The Book of Mormon. Wicked had only 90.6% attendance rate. The 23 shows on the boards grossed $15,024,833, dropping slightly over 7% from the previous week’s totals.

Wicked musical opens on Wednesday, February 01 at the Plaza Theatre. It’s expected to bring thousands of people into the downtown area who are expected to spend some green. Wicked will play in El Paso, TX through Sunday, February 12, 2012.

El Paso is such a small town,and for such a huge thing to come to El Paso is a great thing,” said Sergio Contreras, who plans on seeing the play. “Ithink it’s such a great thing because it’s such an odd-ball thing. El Paso is about the military and stuff like that.”

The musical is expected to bring in $2 million, and about 30,000 people have bought tickets for the first two weeks. The El Paso Times says people in the Sun City are also known to buy last-minute tickets.
