A quick summary of the story of Wicked for those have discovered the “Wicked” experience and have not involved you in it.
The musical, Wicked, was taken from a book, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. The book was a revisionist look at the story, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. In this story, the audience is to side with the “Wicked Witch” and reveals the actual “good” and “evil” characters. The book story does a great job of combining politics, truth, and magic in a fantasy setting. In this story, the audience also discovers how each character in “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” came to be who they are.

Getting the book: I suggest reading the book by Gregory Maguire, and/or the “Wonderful Wizard of Oz”. It helps with recognizing the story and remembering each character as told by L. Frank Baum. Both books are available at amazon.com.
