“Wicked” takes the audience in reverse, back to the school days of Glinda and the Wicked Witch, or Elphaba as she was known then. The popular, blonde Glindaand outcast, green Elphaba meet, compete for the chance to meet the all-powerful and wonderful wizard, and most surprisingly of all, become friends. The backdrop to all of this is an Oz in danger of losing all of the color and diversity (and talking animals) that make it magical in the first place.

A lot of Broadway musicals have the lights, the sparkle, and the show-stopping numbers, but very little underneath. It’s easy to create the big, loud experience of a musical, but it’s a lot harder to create the heartbeat underneath it. “Wicked” will blow you away technically and that might be what you talk about when you leave the Landmark Theater VA.

Natalie Daradich, Chris Peluso to Join Second North American Tour of Wicked

Natalie Daradich will play Glinda and Chris Peluso will play Fiyero in the second North American tour of Wicked on March 10 when the production begins its engagement at the Landmark Theater in Richmond Virginia.

The company also features Marcie Dodd (Elphaba), Marilyn Caskey (Madame Morrible), Don Amendolia (The Wizard), David de Vries (Dr. Dillamond), Zach Hanna (Boq), Kristine Reese (Nessarose), and Anne Brummel (Standby for Elphaba), as well as Meredith Akins, Alicia L. Albright, Kerry Blanchard, Michael Drolet, Jeremy Duvall, Christine Dwyer, Peter C. Ermides, Ryan Patrick Farrell, KC Fredericks, Jenn Furman, Jacqui Graziano, Charles Hagerty, Todd Hanebrink, Ryan Jackson, Lauren Linville, Michelle London, Lesley McKinnell, Casey Quinn, Don Richard, Daniel Torres, Erin Wilson, Justin Wirick, Lindsay Wood, and Kevin Samual Yee.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel of the same name, Wicked features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
