The wizard and witches of the magical land of Oz, Wicked West End production will continue to enchant London’s theatregoers as it has extended the booking period to 26 April 2014.

Wicked is a Standing Production in London GL at Apollo Victoria.

The Olivier Award-winning production, which is now in its seventh spectacular year at the Apollo Victoria, has already been seen by almost five million theatregoers since it opened in London in 2006 and is already the 16th longest running West End musical of all time. Starring leading musical theatre star Louise Dearman as green-skinned witch Elphaba, the musical phenomenon tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, introducing two girls who meet as sorcery students and following them as they grow into the misunderstood Wicked Witch of the West and the ever-popular Glinda The Good.

Wicked West End Cast Update: Dearman, who is the first actress to play both Glinda and Elphaba, is joined in the current cast by Gina Beck as Glinda, Ben Freeman as Fiyero and Louise Plowright as Madame Morrible. Melissa Jacques has replaced Tania Mathurin as the Midwife and understudy for Madame Morrible. Michelle Francis has replaced Florence Andrews in the ensemble and as an understudy for Glinda and Nessarose.

There are gossips that the producers of Wicked Musical are planning to take the hit musical on a first UK tour in 2013.

Wicked is a standing production at Apollo Victoria Theatre. First opened on Broadway in October 2003, Wicked – which tells the “untold story” of the Witches of Oz – received its West End premiere in 2006 at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, where it has been seen by over 4.5 million people to date.

If confirmed, it would mark the show’s first UK tour and would likely run along with the West End production. The Lion King and War Horse are also planning for their inaugural UK tours in 2013.

Wicked celebrates its landmark 5th birthday to night (Tuesday 27 September 2011) at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre. Wicked grossed £145 million at the box office.

Avenue Q; Cabaret; Caroline, or Change; Daddy Cool; Dirty Dancing; Evita; Porgy and Bess; Monty Python’s Spamalot; The Sound of Music and Sunday in The Park with George also all opened that year. With the 9 July 2011 closure of Dirty Dancing, Wicked has outlasted all of these shows and its popularity is greater than ever.

Wicked musical show is the ninth longest running musical currently playing in the West End alongwith Les Miserables (1), The Phantom of the Opera (2), Blood Brothers (3), Chicago* (4), Mamma Mia! (5), Disney’s The Lion King (6), We Will Rock You (7) and Billy Elliot (8) and the 18th longest running West End musical of all time alongwith Les Miserables (1), The Phantom of the Opera (2), Blood Brothers (3), Cats (4), Starlight Express (5), Chicago* (6), Buddy (7), Mamma Mia! (original production) (16) and Billy Elliot (17).

In December 2010, it became the first West End show to gross more than £1 million at the box office in a single week. Michael McCabe, executive producer for Wicked in the UK, commented: “This is an incredible landmark for all of us involved in Wicked and we couldn’t be more delighted to have become such a popular, long-running hit. We are also proud that our continued success has enabled us to support so many charitable projects though our on-going ‘For Good’ programme. Our heartfelt thanks go to every single person who is part of this extraordinary production and to the millions of theatregoers who have been so supportive of the show since our very first performance five years ago.”
