Wicked musical tour returned to Chicago for the holidays period on December 06, 2017 and will paly for limited time at Oriental Theatre – Ford Center for the Performing Arts – IL until January 21, 2018. Wicked took in a record-setting $1,935,432 at the box office for the week ending December 1. The musical held the previous Chicago record, earning $1,764,428 during the week ending Jan. 4, 2009

The sad news for the week is that The hilarious Book of Mormon Musical will be ending its run at the Bank of America Theatre. Book of Mormon scheduled to leave Sunday, Oct. 6, after 43 weeks and 344 performances. Producers already annonced that Book of Mormon will be returning to Chicago, likely during the fall or winter of 2014. The dates and the length of the return engagement have not yet been announced.

The Broadway musical Wicked is making another return visit to Chicago for an eight-week engagement this fall. Wicked ran for more than three-and-a-half years in a dedicated Chicago production betwen 2005 and 2009.

“Wicked,” the Tony Award-winning musical inspired by Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel about the young witches of Oz before Dorothy dropped in, returns to Chicago October 30, 2013 for a limited run, Broadway in Chicago announced late Sunday. The returning engagement of Wicked will play at Ford Center for the Performing Arts’ Oriental Theatre from October 30 to December 21, 2013.

Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked imagines a pre-Dorothy backstory for the Wicked Witch of the West, Glinda the Good and several other characters familiar from L. Frank Baum’s original and the 1939 MGM film.

This tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of the show’s Broadway debut marks the second time since Chicago’s sit-down production closed that “Wicked” has returned to Chicago. “To be part of the 10th anniversary celebration and once again share ‘Wicked’ with Chicago audiences is a great honor,” said Broadway in Chicago President Lou Raizin in a prepared statement.

The show has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman; though it lost the 2004 Tony Awards for best musical, book and score to Avenue Q, Wicked has gone on to set box office records in a number of cities. The new stop by one of Wicked’s touring companies will hit Chicago October 30–December 21, coinciding with the ten-year anniversary of the musical’s Broadway production, which opened October 30, 2003 and is still running.
