For Wicked to launch for the Tulsa Musical Fans, It takes 14 tractor-trailer rigs to transport the massive, elaborate set pieces for the touring Broadway production of “Wicked.” Almost 100 people were on hand at the downtown venue Monday and Tuesday to unload and install the set and its props for the show that launches its Tulsa run Wednesday.
Action News 5’s Lindsey Brown had a wickedly good time bringing you a special story highlighting all the magic going on at the Orpheum Theater through February 16, 2014.
Lindsey Brown got the chance to take that ride 40 feet high above the Orpheum stage. Hayley Podschun is the actress playing Glinda. “Wicked is the story of these two girls and who they were before they became known as the Witches of Oz,” said Podschun describing the musical.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel, which is in turn based on L. Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz,” “Wicked” sees Elphaba (Alison Luff), the future Wicked Witch of The West, and Galinda (Jenn Gambatese), the eventual Glinda the Good, meet as young girls at school. Despite their social differences — one is popular and the other is, well, green — they form an unlikely bond. In this song, “For Good,” the duo reflects on the lingering power of friendship, and the importance of sticking together through thick and thin.

Jennifer DiNoia, who is defying gravity as the star of Wicked at Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium Music Hall, enjoys being green. DiNoia plays Elphaba in the blockbuster musical and has taken on the role in five different companies of the high-flying show.

Podschun attended Blue Valley High School and her parents still reside in Overland Park.
A longtime Broadway performer, Hayley had always dreamed of playing the good witch referred to as Glinda and Galinda in the show Wicked.
“I’m originally from Kansas. Grew up, born and raised in Kansas so the Wizard of Oz is very close to my heart,” said Hayley Podschun, Galinda/Glinda in the touring production of Wicked.
“Wicked’s been on my radar for ten years when I first saw it with the original company on Broadway and I’m so happy to be performing Glinda 8 times a week across the country,” said Podschun.
